2026 vs. 2027 Subaru Solterra
The Solterra received a major update for 2026, with more range, more power, and a NACS charging port. Subaru announced 2027 pricing in June 2026, with the new model year arriving at retailers this fall. The 2027 keeps the same four trims, powertrains, and $38,495 starting MSRP. The changes are inside: StarTex water-resistant upholstery is now standard on the Premium, leather-trimmed upholstery is now standard on the Touring XT, and interior colors on the Limited trims are now paired with specific exterior colors. You may find both model years in stock.
How the Solterra Performs
Two motors, one battery size, and standard all-wheel drive across the lineup keep the choice simple.
288 mi
EPA-estimated range, Premium
Daily range
Enough for several days of typical commuting between home charges, with less range on very cold days.
338 hp
Limited XT and Touring XT
XT performance
The XT's upgraded dual-motor setup cuts 0 to 60 to under 5 seconds, while the Premium and Limited make 233 horsepower.

Quick charging
A standard NACS port charges at up to 150 kW, battery preconditioning supports fast charging in warm and cold weather, and the 11-kW onboard charger speeds up home charging.
What an Ogden to Salt Lake City Commute Looks Like
A round trip of about 76 miles, five days a week, adds up to roughly 19,000 miles a year. Here's how that daily trip compares with the Solterra's range.

Round trips per full charge
Premium
Up to 288 miles

About 3
Estimates only, based on a 76-mile round trip and EPA-estimated range for the Premium. Other trims are rated for less range. Cold weather, cabin heating, highway speeds, and elevation changes reduce range, so plan on less in a Utah winter. Most owners charge at home overnight, so a full charge each morning covers the commute with room to spare. Energy costs depend on your electric rate and where you charge.
Solterra vs. Toyota bZ
The Solterra and the Toyota bZ were developed together and share much of their hardware. The biggest difference is how they handle all-wheel drive.

The bZ offers a lower starting price and more range with front-wheel drive. The Solterra includes all-wheel drive and X-MODE on every trim, and its 233-horsepower AWD Premium starts below the bZ's first AWD model. Figures from each manufacturer as of September 2026, excluding destination.
Technology and Safety
Standard on every Solterra:
EyeSight with Pre-Collision Braking, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and Prevention, Emergency Steering Assist, and Emergency Stop Assist
Front Cross-Traffic Alert and the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System
14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 5-year SubaruConnect trial (subscription required after)
X-MODE with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control
Available:
Automatic parking assist, Multi-Terrain Monitor, and Harman Kardon audio on Limited trims
Panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, and a digital rearview mirror on Touring XT
Room for Real Life
The Solterra's 60/40-split rear seat folds to provide up to 63.5 cubic feet of cargo space, enough for ski bags, camping gear, or a big grocery run. Its compact size makes it easy to park downtown, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance handles snowy side streets and gravel trailhead roads.
Subaru covers the Solterra with a 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, plus 8-year/100,000-mile coverage on the high-voltage battery and electric drive components. See the Subaru warranty booklet for complete terms.
Driving a Solterra in Northern Utah
Standard all-wheel drive, X-MODE, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance make the Solterra a confident winter driver on I-15 and US-89 and on the climb up Ogden Canyon to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain. Cold temperatures reduce range, so preheating the cabin while plugged in at home and using battery preconditioning before fast charging will help on the coldest days.
For most Weber and Davis county drivers, a Level 2 home charger and the 11-kW onboard charger make overnight charging simple. If you need more cargo space or towing, our team can also show you the Subaru Trailseeker, or a hybrid like the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid.

What is the Subaru Solterra's range?
The Solterra offers up to 288 miles of EPA-estimated range on the Premium, and other trims are rated for less. Cold weather, highway speeds, and climate control reduce real-world range. DC fast charging takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes at up to 150 kW.
Does the Solterra have AWD, and which trim is best for Utah winters?
Yes. Every Solterra has standard dual-motor all-wheel drive, X-MODE with Grip Control, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance. For Utah winters, the Limited is the best value, adding a heated steering wheel and heated rear outboard seats to the Premium's heated front seats. The Limited XT adds more power, and the Touring XT adds ventilated front seats and radiant leg heaters. Winter tires improve traction on any trim, and cold temperatures will reduce range.
Should I choose a Solterra or a Solterra XT?
The Premium and Limited make 233 horsepower, while the Limited XT and Touring XT make 338 horsepower and reach 60 mph in under 5 seconds. The Limited XT costs $1,500 more than the Limited and has the same features. For a 76-mile round-trip commute to Salt Lake City, the standard Solterra has plenty of power, and the Premium offers the most range. Choose an XT if you want quicker acceleration for passing and canyon climbs.
What warranty comes with the Subaru Solterra?
The Solterra is covered by Subaru's 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, plus 8-year/100,000-mile coverage on the high-voltage battery and electric drive components, whichever comes first. See the Subaru warranty booklet for complete terms.
How does the Solterra compare to the Toyota bZ?
The two were developed together. The Toyota bZ starts lower at $34,900 with front-wheel drive and offers up to 314 miles of range in front-wheel-drive form. The Solterra includes all-wheel drive and X-MODE on every trim, starting at $38,495, and matches the bZ's 288-mile rating for all-wheel-drive models. If you drive in snow, the Solterra gives you all-wheel drive at a lower starting price than an all-wheel-drive bZ.
What's new for the 2027 Subaru Solterra?
The 2027 Solterra keeps the same four trims, powertrains, and $38,495 starting MSRP as the updated 2026 model. StarTex water-resistant upholstery is now standard on the Premium, and black and blue leather-trimmed upholstery is now standard on the Touring XT. Subaru said the 2027 Solterra arrives at retailers this fall, so you may find both model years at Young Subaru.
Can I test drive a Solterra at Young Subaru?
Yes. Choose any Solterra from our inventory above and schedule a test drive online, or stop by Young Subaru at 3730 Riverdale Road in South Ogden. Our team can have the trim you want ready and walk you through home and public charging before you head out.
