Expert Review: 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Author: Clayton Sunley

Ready for outdoors as always, the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek has a few changes that are welcomed. With its introduction in 2013, the XV was a fresh face but an all too familiar feel. Originally made to replace the Impreza Outback Sport (renamed to prevent confusion), the XV brings a well known combination of ground clearance, great MPG, and a decently large interior space. Still based upon the Impreza platform, this smaller SUV receives a rating and real life proof of 30+ average MPG. With an offering of a Hybrid drive train, this car truly is the most versatile vehicle that we have ever had on our showroom.
>
> Some of the most notable updates include an optional Subaru Eyesight drive assist system. With prior years of only being offered on the Outback/Legacy and Forester, this is an opportunity to increase the safety of our smaller than mid-size vehicles. This is Subaru's newest safety feature and has 2 cameras to monitor the traffic and vehicles in front of the vehicle. With 4 parts to the system, it accomplishes multiple different tasks with the same 3 pieces of equipment. Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Throttle Management, and Lane Departure & Sway Warning are the pillars on which our newest system are built. With many adjustments that can be made, each system can by altered to function exactly how the driver intends.

> On top of Subaru as a whole having just recently been rated as Kelly Blue Book's best resale value of any brand, the Crosstrek has plenty of individual accolades as well. It is an IIHS Top Safety Pick. The XV Crosstrek is also the most fuel-efficient AWD crossover in America. All of these accolades are validated yet again as the 2015 shows up at dealerships.
>
> This small refresh includes an updated center stack that powers the new STARLINK infotainment system, back-up camera that is standard on every single model, and a new center gauge display on models with Subaru Eyesight. Exterior features are all the same as the previous year. However, with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, the Crosstrek really requires little else to stir the heart of even the most dedicated outdoors enthusiast. Outfitted with oversized off-road tires from Yokohama and a standard roof rack system, there are many things to love about this model.
>
> Adding a Special Edition color (Sunrise Yellow) is yet another thing to make the XV Crosstrek stand out among friends and family members that have a more plain model hiding in their garage.
>
> Be sure to take your first opportunity to test drive this already amazing model offered by the fastest growing manufacturer in America: Subaru.
